Katherine Hayes, JD

We are excited to announce that Katherine Hayes, JD, will speak on Health Care Reform 101 at the 2011 Dialogue for Action taking place March 24-25 in Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Hayes is a lead scientist and professional lecturer in the Department of Health Policy at George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS). She has over twenty years of health policy experience at the federal and state levels of government. She has served as a health policy advisor to both Democrats and Republicans in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, as vice president of health policy for Jennings Policy Strategies, Inc, and as a consultant to the State of Missouri Medicaid agency. Ms. Hayes also has experience in the private sector as both an attorney and policy advisor.

At SPHHS, Ms. Hayes is currently doing research in the areas of health care reform implementation, CHIP, Medicaid, long-term care and private health insurance. She has a special focus on colorectal cancer screening as part of a joint project of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Cancer Society.

At the 2011 Dialogue, Ms. Hayes will draw upon her wealth of knowledge and experience to talk about health care reform, the changing health care system and the implications of these changes for colorectal cancer screening.
