With the end of spring comes the winding down of the national Prevent Cancer Super Colon™ tour. Since March 1, I’ve traveled to Sebring, Florida, Virginia Beach, Virginia and Thousand Oaks, California with an eight-foot high, twenty-foot long giant inflatable colon as my only companion (Just kidding. On September 29, the Prevent Cancer Super Colon™ made its way to Nationals Park for the annual Prevent Cancer 5k/Walk Run. 450 runners and walkers stepped through the Prevent Cancer Super Colon, exploring (and sometimes yanking at) various colon disorders. The Prevent Cancer Super Colon™ went to Worcester last weekend for the 23rd annual Latin American Festival. The exhibit was hosted by UMass Memorial Health Center. Volunteers gave out magnets, bracelets and our Guide to Preventable Cancers in English and Spanish. A snowy day in Kearney, Nebraska, did not stop the Good Samaritan Hospital from hosting their Family Fun Day event this past Saturday, March 23. Held at the Kearney Family YMCA, the day's goal was to share health and wellness information with the community through enjoyable family activities.
