25th Anniversary / Research - Margaret Foti, Ph.D., M.D. CEO American Association for Cancer Research ...the list of awardees reads like a veritable "who's who" in cancer prevention. Congradulations to you and the Foundation's board of trustees in celebrating this Silver Jubilee year! It is hard to believe that you have reached this milestone but not difficult to recognize the very special contibutions that you and the Foundation have made to cancer prevention, research and education. Twenty-five years ago we may have looked very wistfully at the prospect of preventing cancer but thanks to your passion and dedication we have new hope and promise on the horizon. Your partnership with and support of AACR have been personally meaningful to me as well as the community of scientists, clinicians and patients we serve. I want to give special recognition to your estabishment and sustained support of the AACR-Prevent Cancer Poundation Award for Excellence in Cancer Prevention Research. Since 2002, it has been our honor to host this Award presentation at our annual Cancer Prevention Research Conference. Outreach / The Super Colon - The Boulder Valley School District got an A+ for its health fair last week.  Keeping your people healthy is a challenge even the government struggles with, but getting information into the hands of your community and offering health screening all rolled up into one event is a win for everyone. Outreach / The Super Colon - The Spokane, WA stop at River Park Square mall sponsored by the Community Health Education & Resources was a great hit, with nearly 5000 people touring the Prevent Cancer SuperColon over the holiday weekend. Outreach / Regular Screening - Helping people get educated and take an active role in their health care can make a big difference, particularly when it comes to cervical cancer. While nearly 4,210 deaths are expected from cervical cancer this year in the United States, as many as 80 percent of these deaths could be prevented through regular screening and proper follow-up care.
