Childhood obesity is on the rise and has garnered more attention with the recent release of an Institute of Medicine report and the HBO documentary “The Weight of the Nation.” Current research stresses the need for action in counteracting growing obesity rates—including strategies specifically targeting pregnant women, infants and toddlers. The Prevent Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce that Katherine Kennedy, Director at Availor Philanthropy, has agreed to serve as the Foundation’s 2012 5K Walk committee chairperson. Last year her team “KK’s Cancer Kickers” raised more than $9,400 with 62 team members for the 2011 Prevent Cancer Foundation 5K event. She also chairs the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Young Professionals group and will serve on the Foundation’s Board of Directors beginning later this month.
