Even the busiest New Yorkers had to come and take a look see. There were 985 people that toured the exhibit, talked with staff and volunteers and received colorectal cancer prevention and early detection information and giveaways such as buddy bracelets and gift bags. We were even visited by three elementary school classes. The most important thing that happened at the Monahan Center Super Colon stop was that five people signed up for colonoscopies and ten were referred for future appointments.

On The Road Again…
The 2010 tour, generously sponsored by Amgen, was very successful educating more than 4,000 people across the country about colorectal cancer prevention and early detection. March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, when the National Super Colon Tour officially begins.  Our first stop was California, where the exhibit was seen first in San Diego and then traveled to Thousand Oaks, where hundreds of Amgen employees toured the Super Colon. Then it was off to Tucson, Arizona where the Super Colon made an appearance at the Arizona Diamondback’s spring training. One of our April stops to Auburn, Maine garnered major media attention and was covered by the Associated Press and featured in several broadcast, print and online outlets across the country.
